Spring is upon us, contrary to what Mother Nature is telling us; and that means the vibrant city of Colorado Springs is coming to life. Being so beautiful and bright outside, you're not going to want to miss out on the fun that April in the Springs has to offer. Check out our list of the top 5 best things to do in downtown COS this month, and get ready to celebrate the start of Spring!

1. Sky Sox Vs. Omaha Storm ChasersImage title

If nothing else, a Sky Sox game is a great, inexpensive way to spend a sunny afternoon with your friends and family and enjoy the nice spring weather. This particular game against the Storm Chasers is special in that it's the first game of the season, meaning there will be a pretty decent crowd in attendance which makes for some good hype. Plus, there'll be awesome food. What more could you ask for?

3. Gallop in the Garden: Free 5K Fun RunImage result for garden of the gods

Can running/jogging/walking get any better than the views in Garden of the Gods? This FREE 5K fun run meets weekly and is open to all abilities and ages. Soak up the Coloradan sun and break a sweat at the same time. Finish off the exercise with a cold brew from the Fossil Craft Beer company on the way home. Don't worry; dogs are always welcome, they have a stroller friendly route, and they encourage kids!

4. Crawfish Boil and Brews

Mark your calendar and clear your schedule because it's that time again...Boil and Blues at WhiImage result for crawfishstle Pig Brewing Company! Bring your friends and family and head on down to the annual Boil and Blues, featuring a traditional crawfish boil by Chef Bobby Couch, and blues music performed by Jesse Cotton Stone and Grant Sabin.

The music starts at 5:30 p.m., so come grab hold of some crawfish, sausage, shrimp, corn, okra, and potatoes - all boiled up and served hot on your table.

5. Look Alive and Spring Outside

Looking for a few hours to yourself? I know that I sure am! Get the kids outside in nature, learning the way that we did. Drop your kids off at Bear Creek Nature Center for an early afternoon of hiking, nature exploring and adventuring. Grades 1-5 welcome.
